International Medical Direction LLC (IMD) is an EMS Centralized Communications Center (aka Centralized Medical Direction Group), operating under Arizona State Laws and Rules for the purpose of providing administrative medical oversight and on-line medical direction to EMS agencies and mobile medical teams all over the world.
EMS Teams, and more specifically EMS Providers (EMR, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic), are required in all states and at all times to work ‘under’ an ER physician’s supervision to assure performance of safe patient care. Some of these services are provided by local ER based physicians. However lately as insurance reimbursements decrease and resultant diminishing budgets are forced onto hospitals, many hospitals are cutting back on the amount of these services.
As a reaction, many ER/EMS physicians have been forced to work independently for EMS agencies to provide more focused attention on an industry that they are passionate about. However the paradox is that solo physicians fall often short because of the amount of administrative demands set by today’s modern EMS Agency or EMS Provider.
A Centralized Medical Direction Group addresses that need by centrifuging those services to provide the economies of scale amongst partner physicians and deliver superior EMS oversight and support.
We envisioned this group while being involved in efforts in 2011-2012 in EMS Innovation via the CMS Innovation grants. On 01/01/2012 we formed IMD with the anticipation of the eventuality of the CMS ET3 Model and the desire to centrifuge these services to include our now in place full Telemedicine Infrastructure and staff.
Our Centralized Medical Direction group have set a vision and standard for EMS Medical Direction by forming a leadership group made up of licensed, experienced, and Industry Respected ER/EMS physicians. We go further to invest in our agencies by maintaining a state of the art cloud based communication/charting/telehealth system as well as providing in-house full-time expert support staff to achieve fully comprehensive medical supervision services.
This includes all necessary online and administrative medical direction as well as integrated continuing education, pharmaceutical support, quality assurance and records management.
